It was on the eve of Saraswati Puja, Gaurav and I were roaming around in Sashi Bhushan Dey Street paying homages to the live protimas. Gaurav is my childhood friend from school days. Some of you might know him. He is a very good guy with lots of sense of humour. He can make you laugh all the time with even the most serious issues.
Coming back to Saraswati Puja Eve, as we were roaming there, suddenly an aunty named Patra-kakima from our locality, who loves animals, treats them and takes care of the street dogs, suddenly emerged from somewhere and saw Gaurav caressing one of such street dogs. She likes people who loves dogs and also other animals.
When she saw Gaurav caressing the dog, she at once ran towards Gaurav and asked him, "Tumi ki Dog-Lover?" means "Are you a Dog-Lover?". I was a bit far away from them and mis-heard or rather over heard the word DOGLOVER as DOGLABAAJ. This is how, a new word evolved from no where. The word is DOGLABAAJ.
Later Gaurav and I had a good laugh at it. Nowadays, when I see Gaurav caressing dogs, I call him DOGLABAAJ. He merrily accepts my nomenclature to him and smiles away.
So from now on, I am going to call all DOG-LOVERS as DOGLABAAJ.

Chalo bye.....
Just like Ki Cholche? that I had mentioned in my previous post, Chalo bye..... is another way of saying Good Bye by the youngsters of today (whether in phone or in person) which I dislike the most.
Whenever I meet a friend, I pray to God, that the guy does not bid me good bye by those two foolish words borrowed from the Hindi and English Dictionary and punched together. The Chalo bye..... type of speaking is more prevalent with the college goers and with the so called Call Centre Executives. (I know not, why these people are called Executives just for answering calls? Real Executives have to do a lot more other things than just answering calls.)
Coming to Chalo bye..... , I have some kind of a typical feeling when people say those two words. They are: -
1) I would still leave you and go somewhere else even if you did not tell me Chalo bye..... . So you better not tell me to go like that.
2) Chalo? Where shall I go? Are you a fortuneteller and know that I will be going somewhere soon?
3) Its my wish whether I will go or not. Who are you to tell me Chalo? Just say Good bye. Haven't you learnt manners from the Imperial Rule of the British or a single bit from your teacher in primary school.
4) If you are a Bengali / Bong and still say those forbidden words, I would rather thrash you and teach you a lesson of your life so that you do not commit the same mistake twice in your life before me.
Remember, "Chalo bye....." is forbidden in Vaijayanta's Dictionary. So better be safe than sorry.

Ki cholche?
It seems that a portion of Bengalis who are living outside the Bengal tend to forget their mother tongue even at the most simplest of phrases.
It was on the other day my-friend-Sirshendu's friend Rahine, who is living in Mumbai for almost the last two years, greeted me in Google talk saying "Ki cholche?". Not only this. My school friend Abhishek Das, living outside Bengal for some time now, did the same. Even he told me "Hi, ki cholche?".
I was really surprised by this wrong way of constructing phrases by Bengalis themselves. So how can we expect other people who live in Bengal, apart from Bengalis, to speak correct Bangla.
I immediately found out the root of the problem. In Hindi people generally greet each other by saying "Kya chal rha hai, bhai?" and "Ki cholche, bhai?" is a direct translation of the Hindi phrase. I was amazed that nowadays, even Bengalis are thinking in Hindi. I don't know in which direction Bangla is heading towards? I have nothing against these two guys, but I strongly condemn their ignorance regarding their mother tongue.
When I explained this aspect to both of them, Rahine took it sportingly and gave a reason that he is a half Bengali and Abhishek tried to shut me up my mouth by saying I was speaking too much "bakwaas" that day, just like an old school friend. (in modern Bangla, "Bhaat bokchish")

DIDI, GET WELL SOON
Now I have no doubt that our didi (Mamata Banerjee) has finally watched the movie, Lage Raho Munnabhai after reading my post Lage Raho Munnabhai that was publiished in the Metro section of The Telegraph Newspaper.
My imgination tells me that the whole incident went on like this. After reading my post, she immediately ordered, "Sonali, jao to ekkhuni......pasher VCD parlour theke Lage Raho Munnabhai cinema ta niye esho". Immediately Sonali Guha her deputy rushed to the VCD parlour and didi had a 3 hrs video show at her laptop. Didi's eyes filled with tears as she ended the movie with a big smile in her face.
After watching the film, she learnt that there are also many other ways of protesting other than mob violence. Gandhigiri influenced her and she made up her mind to sit in Chowringhee with her fast until death drama and draw the Medha Patkars, the Aruhdhati Roys, the Rajnath Singhs and the George Fernandeses to support an issue that no one else could comprehend other than her. The land acquisition has been over 3-4 days ago and still she is demanding from the government to stop land acquisition, for her to stop her fast.
Anyone who visited didi carrying out her fast cannot make out what didi is doing there in Chowringhee for 8 days. I have noticed that anyone who visited the place once have never looked back or visited the place again. Not only the celebrities but also the her party MLAs. Didi is alone there with a new set of people everyday. She is so adament with her cause that even our Governor could not make her reconsider her decision.
We might have seen didi trying to concentrate at the laptop, in the news channels and trying to make out something. I think she has liked the film so much that kept the VCD of Lage Raho Munnabhai with her and she is watching those scenes over and over again where Sanjay Dutt stands in front of Boman Irani, alone with a board in his hand where it is written "Get Well Soon". Now we all wish our dear didi to stop her fast and Get Well Soon.

The President and me and the gap in between.
Today I had the honour of meeting THE PRESIDENT OF INDIA, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
Even though we met each other, we were about 100 metres away from each other. This gap did not reduce. Even though I wanted, I took no steps to reduce the gap. It was honestly not possible. He was sitting in the stage of Mahajati Sadan, Kolkata and I was sitting on the seat that was close to the end of the hall. There were security guards and Black Cats all around him and amy attempt from my side to reduce the gap would have ended in burial of my intentions by the security guards.
The occasion was Convocation 2006 of IISWBM and I was a part of it. I was invited to the ceremony just like any other common student of IISWBM by the authorities.
At the end of the show I felt my self lucky to share the same hall with stalwarts like Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam (The President of India), Shri. Gopal Krishna Gandhi (Governor of West Bengal), Prof. Sudarshan Raychaudhuri (Minister of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal), Dr. Pratap Chandra Chunder (President, Board of Governors, IISWBM) and Prof. Ashoke Kumar Dutta (Director, IISWBM). I am really honoured to have such a wonderful afternoon.

Lage Raho Munna-bhai
After seeing all the shameful happenings in the West Bengal's Vidhan Sabha (State Legislative Assembly), I have concluded that Mamata Banerjee and her party MLAs have not yet seen the film, Lage Raho Munna-bhai, else they would not have broken the antics in the place of heritage.
On the contrast, our Chief Minister, Buddhadev Bhattacharya had seen the film and had learnt a lesson from it, that "Treat your ememies like your friends". So (thanks to Gandhi-giri) he has taken the decision of not arresting the Trinamool MLAs, who are guilty of committing the massacre. Instead he has invited all the common men like me to visit the State Legislative Assembly and witness the damage that has been done by Mamata's disciples.
The Assembly is going to remain open for 3 days. So I am going to visit it tomorrow i.e. on Saturday the 2nd December, 2006.

CETIJAEN
CETIJAEN is a famous word among the people plying through Kolkata on the public bus number 71. If you could not understand what I meant to say, let me explain it to you in details.
If you are a regular passenger in 71, you might know it.
On 26-11-2006, Sunday at 9.30 pm I was returning from City Centre with my friend Gaurav in the bus number 71. As we were travelling by the bus, I saw that above the seats for the Senior Citizens in the bus, it was written in big block letters CETIJAEN. I showed it to Gaurav and as we both were smiling at such an innovative way in which the word CITIZEN was written.
To add the humour, I told that it looked as if the man who wrote it might be well conversed in some European language. The man next to me added that "As the bus plys near city centre, hence to add its effect, the name has been deliberately transformed to CETIJAEN."
God knows what, but we all agreed that what an innovative way of writing English it was. Ha Ha.

I've broken my own record !
I have broken my own record. I have watched 3 films in a week in a cinema hall or theatre . Yes this is a record for me! My last record was one film in a week. But this week (from 19-11-2006 till 25-11-2006) I have broken my own record.
Let me list the films I had seen: -
19-11-2006 - Don - The Film - starring SRK (at Paradise)
20-11-2006 - Lagey Raho Munnabhai - the greatest comedy of 2006 (at Chaplin)
23-11-2006 - Casino Royale - the 2006 James Bond film (at Globe)
Isn't it a great acheivement for someone who saw only 2 films in the year 2005 in cinema hall and only these 3 films (mentioned above) in the year 2006.

Why did I leave my last Job?
There was a reason why I left my last job. But before that I should mention the details you need to know about me.
Company where I worked: WDC, Sector V, Kolkata
I worked there for: 1 and 1/2 years
Working as a: Lotus Notes Application Developer.
Salary: very low
Reason for leaving:
1. I had my Part I MBA Exams at IISWBM, Kolkata in the middle of 2006 and so I had applied for leave from my office. My application for leave was rejected. So I had to deliberately resign from my job so that I can peacefully appear for my Exams.
2. Low salary
3. My boss in office suffered from an ego (inferiority complex) problem. He saw that I am a B.Tech as well as MBA and he is just a n ordinary graduate. This ate him up the whole day and I could not see him suffering. (read as I could not tolerate him)

Lets Start All Over Again
As you can see from my above post, I am blogging since November 2004. That means I had just passed my B.Tech then. This time was those BLACK DAYS OF MY LIFE, when I used to remain sad the whole time. Please dont ask me the reason. I wont be able to tell you.
