What is Silhouette?

Click below to see a silhouette.

http://jpgmag.com/photos/1293497

A Silhouette is a view of a object or scene consisting of the outline and a featureless interior, with the silhouetted object usually being black. The term was initially applied in the 18th century to portraits or other pictorial representations cut from thin black card.

The term has been extended to describe the sight or image of a person, object or scene that is backlit, and appears dark against a lighter background. Because a silhouette emphasises the outline, the word has also been used in the fields of fashion and fitness to describe the shape of a person's body or the shape created by wearing clothing of a particular style or period.

Silhouette images may be created in any artistic media, but the tradition of cutting portraits from black card has continued into the 21st century.

Photography Mania One - Part 1

I am an amateur photographer with a baby camera ( Sony-DSC-W55), but it is a lot for me as this is my first camera and I longed for it for many decades. At last, on the last February, I managed to buy me this camera which would be handy and get inside my pockets (so that she can travel with me wherever I go) and also at par in clarity from shot range with hi-fi cameras though not in zoom feature. Still I managed to take around 6K photographs. Have a look at some of my photography: -

a) Flickr Photography: - http://flickr.com/photos/vaijayanta

b) Orkut Photography: - http://www.orkut.co.in/Main#AlbumList.aspx?uid=7341345415792501999

c) JPG Magazine Photography: - http://jpgmag.com/people/vaichatt

In the process, I have managed to make many new amateur as well as professional photographer friends. Let me introduce them and their photography to you: -

1) Subhamoy Sinha Roy ( He is my Sir and Dada at IEM, Sector V, Salt Lake who is an amazing amateur-tured-professional photographer.)

a) Flickr Photography: - http://flickr.com/photos/subhamoysr/

b) Orkut Photography: - http://www.orkut.co.in/Main#AlbumList.aspx?uid=5742825986125954192

2) Shubhajyoti Roychowdhury (He is my school class mate from class 3 till class 12 at DBPC and a great amateur photographer who has an amazing concept and soon he will be at par with professional photographers.)

a) Flickr Photography: - http://flickr.com/photos/subhajyoti/

b) Orkut Photography: - http://www.orkut.co.in/Main#AlbumList.aspx?uid=681038878419523747

3) Satyaki Basu (He is a doctor by profession and a great amateur-turned-professional photographer.)

4) Koustav K. Dutta (He is my new orkut friend and an amazing photographer whose photography is no less than a professional. He is Mr. Clarity as every photograph of his is very clear and interesting.)

a) Flickr Photography: - http://flickr.com/photos/30461198@N06/

b) Orkut Photography: - http://www.orkut.co.in/Main#AlbumList.aspx?uid=11854144470434428755

5) Chaitali Dutta Chowdhury (She is my college class mate at IEM and an amazing amateur photographer at par with any professional photographer.)

a) Flickr Photography: - http://www.flickr.com/photos/44607342@N00/

b) Orkut Photography: - http://www.orkut.co.in/Main#AlbumList.aspx?uid=9995988269161291809

I have noticed one thing in orkut. All these friend of mine are related to each other directly or indirectly and this thing really makes me feel like being a proud part of the imaginary photographers community. Thus I am really fortunate to have these talented friends and their photography makes me sit and view them during my past time and grow creative mindset towards photography. I am learning a lot from them about photography. I am a great fan of my photographer friends. Looking forward to include more people in this imaginary community. I will have more posts on Photography Mania One as we include more people in this imaginary community.

Bengali Brides at Bengali Marriage Ceremony

Bengali Brides at Bengali Marriage Ceremony

Yesterday, I had the good opportunity of visiting a Grand Wedding Party and there I had clicked some of the pictures of the beautiful women and girls (with their permission) and after clicking each picture, I had showed them how they looked in that snap through my Camers's LCD. Thus I was very happy (in fact for the first time) to click such good pictures. But due to limited space in my flickr and picasa account I could not upload them. But we should keep in mind that "Something is Always Better Than Nothing".

Hope you also enjoy this picture. I am looking forward to get all your feedback in my mail id vaichatt@gmail.com or in the comment section just after this post.

Front View of South City Mall

Front View of South City Mall

-

I had taken many pictures of South City Mall earlier but I had always forgotten to take the front view of the Mall. Today I got it from one of my friend named Paramita who had gone to the Mall yesterday with her hubby for their Marriage Anniversary and she took the photo from the front. Thus I borrowed the pic from her. Thank You Paramita.

If you look carefully, you can see the top portion of one of the towers of South City Towers on the top right hand side of the picture.

A Border around a Photo makes it Picture Perfect

I have discovered a new technique in photography. The technique is before showing the pictures that I have clicked to my picture viewers, I need to provide a dark border around a picture. It enhances the beauty of the picture. I knew this from before and had this idea in my subconscious mind, but after watching the picture of my new flickr friend called Ace Clicker (Subhashish Ghosh's photography), I came to believe firmly that a photo looks great inside a dark border. So to prove this , I tried it with one of my own clicked snap, and I saw the result (see it yourself for the picture clicked by me below).

View of the Church with border around it.

View of the Church without border around it.

Now tell me which one looks better?
So from now on, I am going to apply a dark border around all my photos.

So friends come and have a look at my photography:
