DIDI, GET WELL SOON

Now I have no doubt that our didi (Mamata Banerjee) has finally watched the movie, Lage Raho Munnabhai after reading my post Lage Raho Munnabhai that was publiished in the Metro section of The Telegraph Newspaper.

My imgination tells me that the whole incident went on like this. After reading my post, she immediately ordered, "Sonali, jao to ekkhuni......pasher VCD parlour theke Lage Raho Munnabhai cinema ta niye esho". Immediately Sonali Guha her deputy rushed to the VCD parlour and didi had a 3 hrs video show at her laptop. Didi's eyes filled with tears as she ended the movie with a big smile in her face.

After watching the film, she learnt that there are also many other ways of protesting other than mob violence. Gandhigiri influenced her and she made up her mind to sit in Chowringhee with her fast until death drama and draw the Medha Patkars, the Aruhdhati Roys, the Rajnath Singhs and the George Fernandeses to support an issue that no one else could comprehend other than her. The land acquisition has been over 3-4 days ago and still she is demanding from the government to stop land acquisition, for her to stop her fast.

Anyone who visited didi carrying out her fast cannot make out what didi is doing there in Chowringhee for 8 days. I have noticed that anyone who visited the place once have never looked back or visited the place again. Not only the celebrities but also the her party MLAs. Didi is alone there with a new set of people everyday. She is so adament with her cause that even our Governor could not make her reconsider her decision.

We might have seen didi trying to concentrate at the laptop, in the news channels and trying to make out something. I think she has liked the film so much that kept the VCD of Lage Raho Munnabhai with her and she is watching those scenes over and over again where Sanjay Dutt stands in front of Boman Irani, alone with a board in his hand where it is written "Get Well Soon". Now we all wish our dear didi to stop her fast and Get Well Soon.

The President and me and the gap in between.

Today I had the honour of meeting THE PRESIDENT OF INDIA, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

Even though we met each other, we were about 100 metres away from each other. This gap did not reduce. Even though I wanted, I took no steps to reduce the gap. It was honestly not possible. He was sitting in the stage of Mahajati Sadan, Kolkata and I was sitting on the seat that was close to the end of the hall. There were security guards and Black Cats all around him and amy attempt from my side to reduce the gap would have ended in burial of my intentions by the security guards.

The occasion was Convocation 2006 of IISWBM and I was a part of it. I was invited to the ceremony just like any other common student of IISWBM by the authorities.

At the end of the show I felt my self lucky to share the same hall with stalwarts like Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam (The President of India), Shri. Gopal Krishna Gandhi (Governor of West Bengal), Prof. Sudarshan Raychaudhuri (Minister of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal), Dr. Pratap Chandra Chunder (President, Board of Governors, IISWBM) and Prof. Ashoke Kumar Dutta (Director, IISWBM). I am really honoured to have such a wonderful afternoon.

Lage Raho Munna-bhai

After seeing all the shameful happenings in the West Bengal's Vidhan Sabha (State Legislative Assembly), I have concluded that Mamata Banerjee and her party MLAs have not yet seen the film, Lage Raho Munna-bhai, else they would not have broken the antics in the place of heritage.

On the contrast, our Chief Minister, Buddhadev Bhattacharya had seen the film and had learnt a lesson from it, that "Treat your ememies like your friends". So (thanks to Gandhi-giri) he has taken the decision of not arresting the Trinamool MLAs, who are guilty of committing the massacre. Instead he has invited all the common men like me to visit the State Legislative Assembly and witness the damage that has been done by Mamata's disciples.

The Assembly is going to remain open for 3 days. So I am going to visit it tomorrow i.e. on Saturday the 2nd December, 2006.
