Change in Bengal Politics

Bengal Politics has seen a big change from Left Rule to the TMC Rule on 13th May, 2011. It was a Friday. Friday the 13th which was unlucky for the Left Parties who had been ruling Bengal at a stretch for 34 years. Almost three and a half decades ruling a state in India is not a joke. One needs to have character to do so. Left had that under Jyoti Basu for about 24 years and then 10 years under Buddhadeb Bhattacharya. Now, Mamata Banerjee will sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Bengal on 18th May at the Brigade Parade Grounds. People have a lot of expectations from her and some even dreamt of her to be the next Bidhan Chandra Ray under whom Bengal had experiences all around development.

It feels bad for Buddhadeb Bhattacharya who was an able administrator but one wrong step by him (allowing the police to shoot at the villagers of Nandigram) made his government loose the Lok Sabha and now the Bidhan Sabha elections in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

Congratulations to Mamata Banerjee would be too less to admit and acknowledge her perseverance and ability to fight against all odds. She started from a mere party worker and beating MP Somnath Chatterjee from his own constituency to Rail Ministry (a couple of times) to the present post of Chief Minister of Bengal. It is definitely a long way and only time will tell if she can be successful in being an able administrator who can drive Bengal from poverty, debt to the most prosperous state in future and retaining the long lost glory of Bengal.

Left Party (CPIM) did a lot of work for Bengal in terms of farming, panchayat system, infrastructure and cultural areas but was a total failure in economy, healthcare, education and job market creation. Thus Bengal could no more be called a state which thinks matters one day ahead of the rest of India (“What Bengal thinks today, India thinks tomorrow”). It is a matter of time to see whether Mamata can revive Bengal to a different revolution of overall development that her party’s manifesto promises.

Mamata v/s Industrialization. Who will win?

Now one thing is to be seen that who wins the game of Singur?
There are 2 teams. Team Mamata and Team Buddha.

Team Mamata has many types of people: -
1) Mamata didi herself.
2) Her ruthless supporters who are willing to destroy anything for the sake of political interests of their party and for drawing vote bank who don’t care about the image of Bengal or whether the Tata leave Bengal or not.
3) Bhumi Ucched Protirodh Committee (BUPC) & Krishi Jomi Rokkha Committee (KJRC).
4) State governments of other states of India who wants the Tata plat to be in their state and so they are funding Mamata. So people like Amar Singh, Medha Patkar, Arundhuti Roy and other people can be seen along with Mamata supporting her baseless cause.

Team Buddha has many types of people: -
1) Buddha babu himself.
2) His supporters who have been mere spectators in Singur issue to avoid tension.
3) West Bengal Police to safeguard the interests of Tata Group.
4) Tata Group themselves.

So its Team Mamata v/s Team Buddha

So the situation is such that we will have to wait and watch what happens next. Whether Buddha babu returns 400 acres to the farmers or whether the Singur Plant along with the ancillary units come up at Singur. Who will finally win the match? Or whether there is a draw in the game, which means both parties are satisfied by the outcome of the game.

Mamata v/s Buddha or Mamata v/s Tata ?

Mamata Banerjee (our Didi) has again started her drama demanding the 400 acres from the Singur Tata Plant. Buddhadev Bhattacharya (Buddha babu or Chief Minister) has shown reasons why the 400 acres cannot be returned back to the famers as apart from 600 acres in Singur the 400 acres are needed for ancillary units. Otherwise the Tata has threatened that they might pull off the factory venture from Singur and re-establish it in some other state of India.

People of West Bengal who support industrialization are worried whether Tata is really planning to go to another state. That might show a wrong precedence among the future investors in West Bengal and the image of Bengal among the World Business Forum will be ruined. People who do not support industrialization are supporting Mamata in her dharna at Singur where they are merrily participating in the drama that is going on in front of the Singur Plant disrupting the normal work process of the Singur Plant.

So on the backdrop of this, some techies have developed a forum to support the Industrialization Drive by our State Government. Anyone who supports industrialization can visit this forum and add their name and the reason why they support industrialization.

The Actual Tata 1 Lakh Car - The NANO

Congrats Mr. Ratan Tata and The Tatas (TELCO) to launch such a sweet car (THE NANO). Being a True Bengali, I support their cause of opening a car factory in West Bengal where no company has ever dared to arrive. Thanks a lot to all those who made the Tatas come to Bengal. It is like a dream come true for all of us in Bengal. It is a mission-impossible made possible by Mr. Ratan Tata and Honourable Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharya. Thanks a lot, Sir.
